At Neuma, we believe beauty is more than a look. It’s a practice of intention, creativity, and care. That’s why we’re excited to spotlight Gina Scipioni, National Neuma Educator and Beauty Business Coach, whose career reflects all three.
From teaching across the U.S. and Canada to styling at Neuma photoshoots, bridal features, and runways like New York and Philadelphia Fashion Week, Gina brings artistry and meticulous technique to everything she touches. When she’s not working behind the chair at Fringe and Fern Hair Salon in West Chester, PA, she’s sharing her expertise with stylists nationwide. Her specialties in bridal styling, corrective color, and refined cutting techniques have earned her recognition in PEOPLE.com, Allure, and Beauty Launchpad.
For Gina, sharing knowledge is just as important as creating beauty. We caught up with Gina to hear her favorite Neuma products, go-to hair tricks, approach to self-care, and daily inspirations.
Q: What are your favorite five Neuma formulas, and why do they stand out in your routine?
A: Re Neu Clarifying Shampoo – my family’s favorite! We love the deep cleanse it provides, especially since we spend so much time at the pool and beach in the summer, and my kids swim year-round. We also appreciate the good-for-you ingredients that promote healthy hair growth, clear up seasonal skin debris and dandruff, and remove product buildup when anyone goes overboard.
Neu Repair Conditioner – simply the ultimate replenishment! It’s also one of my favorite Neuma aromas. This conditioner works effortlessly to give me my silkiest strands without weighing down my hair.
Neu Moisture Argan Oil – as a hairstylist, this is my favorite cutting lotion. It helps me control the hair during a cut and keeps it tangle-free throughout the service. It’s also the perfect primer for all hair types when styling at home. Even fine, thin hair benefits from a drop! As a bridal hair and makeup artist, Neu Moisture Argan Oil is always in my bridal bag, helping me achieve a flawless finish on formal styles.
Neu Styling Air-Dry Shaper – I love switching up my hairstyles, and this product makes it easy. All hair types and textures benefit from its flexible, invisible hold, whether you let your hair dry naturally or use a blow dryer. For beachy waves, apply on damp hair, twist or braid, and separate once dry. To enhance existing curls and coils, apply to wet hair and scrunch this silky glaze throughout.
Neu Volume Styling Spray– it’s not just for volume! I use it on almost every client in the salon. I love the bounce, shine, and lift it gives.
Q: So, you must have some go-to styling tips and tricks with Neuma…
A: Well, how much time do we have?! I’m always excited to learn new tricks and hear what works for others, so here are a few of my favorites:
Re Neu Dry Shampoo isn’t just for absorbing oil on non-wash days. Spray it from mids to ends when you want a piece-y, textured look, or on roots before your hair starts to feel oily to keep it fresh.
Neu Volume Styling Spray isn’t just for volume blowouts. It’s perfect for lightly scrunching waves, curls, and coils, works beautifully as heat protection for any iron or wand style, and doubles as a non-aerosol hairspray when you want a flexible, moveable finish.
Q: As the weather cools, which Neuma product do you turn to, and why?
A: Hands down, Neu Styling Smoothing Crème! As temperatures drop in autumn, so does the humidity—which is usually great for our hair, but too little humidity can create static. Colder, rainy days (especially in the northern parts of the world) can also mean windy days and tangled tresses. All these hair woes are put to rest by this product.
For autumn, I also recommend adjusting your shampoo routine. I always keep Re Neu Clarifying Shampoo in the shower year-round, but as autumn arrives, I start reaching more often for Neu Moisture Shampoo and save Neu Repair Shampoo for winter. There’s a Neuma shampoo for every season!
Q: What’s your #1 tip for keeping hair salon-fresh between visits?
A: GIGO! This longtime computer science principle—garbage in, garbage out—applies perfectly to haircare. In hair terms, here’s how I explain it: if we leave the salon with incredible hair but don’t maintain it at home with the right products, our hair can unfortunately turn stale, lackluster, or dry and brittle between visits.
On the flip side, maintaining your hair at home with the products your stylist recommends on the day of your service ensures you never end up with “garbage” hair. When clients make the switch, I’ve often seen a noticeable improvement in manageability, shine, and bounce between salon visits.
Q: For anyone considering a new hairstyle, what advice would you give?
A: Find out your “why!” Changing your look based on a trend or what your favorite celebrity is doing might sound great in theory, but it won’t flatter everyone. Making a change based on an emotional reaction can also be a red flag. Sometimes it works out wonderfully, other times… not so much. We’ve all seen the “girl, don’t do it” videos, right?
In all seriousness, understanding why you want a change will help you and your stylist achieve the best possible outcome. For example, if you’re feeling weighed down and go for a short Italian bob, it might not be the right style if you’ll end up missing your long locks. Adding light layers, texture, or a curtain bang to your long hair could give you the fresh, lifted look you’re craving, without losing the length.
Q: What’s your favorite way to show yourself some self-care out of the chair?
A: Skincare! I was surprised when, almost twenty years ago, I learned that the skin is our largest organ. Knowing that made me even more interested in understanding exactly what I put on my body, especially since whatever is applied to the skin can be absorbed in about 25 seconds. A great facial or massage always sounds heavenly, but I really notice a big difference in my skin when I stay consistent with my daily skincare routine.
Q: Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact most people don’t know about you?
A: I’m a left-handed woman (statistically that’s only 2% of the world’s population)! I have my bachelor’s degree in Theater and Dance, and I also hold a PA state Cosmetology Teacher license, so I enjoy teaching a variety of hair cutting and hair styling classes.
Q: How awesome! Now spill—what are your favorite meals or sweet treats you secretly can’t resist?
A: This girl definitely has a sweet tooth, but I also try to eat healthy, so in my spare time I find myself (and family) sharing great recipes and baking up a semi-sweet storm while using better, healthier ingredients.
Q: Is there a saying or motto that keeps you motivated on your journey?
A: In Casa Scipioni, it seems like we have a motto or quote for almost everything! It really helps to know that whatever the situation, you’re not going through it alone. Whether it’s funny or sad, true or just a joke, life is better when shared with the ones you love.
Wealth isn’t always about money, and success isn’t only financial. Acknowledge, respect, and truly appreciate all the ways you are wildly successful and authentically wealthy—in mind, body, spirit, and soul.
And that’s it for now with Gina Scipioni, Neuma babes. Be sure to follow her haircare journey along on Instagram at @thestylingpoint for gorgeous hairstyles, tips and tricks, and more!
