What ingredients do you choose to formulate without? What is this ‘Come Clean’ List I keep hearing about?

At Neuma we are committed to a health and safety standard that far surpasses what is legally required in North America. Neuma chooses not to formulate with more than 15 different questionable ingredients commonly known to be carcinogens, hormone disruptors, skin sensitizers or environmental pollutants. In full transparency, what you see on the label, is what’s in the bottle.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Yes! Neuma has been and always will be cruelty-free. We are Leaping Bunny Certified, which is the globally recognized certification program that indicates that a company's products are free of animal testing. The program is managed by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC), which is a coalition of eight animal protection organizations. To be certified, a company must complete a rigorous application process and provide documentation to demonstrate that they do not test their products on animals at any stage of production, including sourcing ingredients and finished product testing. In addition, the company must agree to ongoing audits and adhere to the program's standards for the duration of the certification.

Products with the Leaping Bunny logo have met these standards and are cruelty-free. By choosing Leaping Bunny-certified products, consumers can be confident that they are not contributing to animal testing and are supporting companies that prioritize ethical and sustainable practices.

Are your products vegan? What does vegan mean?

Yes! Our products are vegan, meaning they do not contain any animal-derived ingredients or byproducts. This includes ingredients such as dairy, honey, and other animal-derived substances like gelatin, lanolin and carmine, which we proudly go without.

What is the packaging made of? Is it recyclable?

Neuma's bottles are made from 100% post-consumer resin (PCR) and designed to be as eco-friendly as possible. Additionally, our pumps and caps are made from polypropylene, which is also recyclable in many areas. It is important to note that recycling capabilities can vary depending on the area you live in, so it’s best to check with your local recycling program to see if they accept all packaging components.

What does the Triman symbol on your package represent?

The Timan symbol is a recycling symbol that originated in France to indicate that a product is recyclable and should be sorted and separated from other household waste. It was introduced in France in 2015 as part of a law aiming to increase recycling rates and reduce waste.

Are Neuma products safe to use on keratin-treated, color-treated hair and/or extensions?

Yes! Neuma's formulas are extremely gentle, safe to use and won't cause damage or strip hair.

Are your products fragrance-free?

While Neuma products are not fragrance-free, they are synthetic fragrance-free. We never have or will use synthetic fragrances in our formulas. Instead, we use pure essential oil blends and plant-based ingredients to allow our formulas to bloom and give you performance without risk to your health.

Why is synthetic fragrance-free important?

The word "fragrance" is protected under the United States Trade Secret Act, making it okay for companies to list the word fragrance on their ingredient listing without identifying the actual makeup of their ingredients or what they use to create the scent. This leaves manufacturers with 5,000 different chemical choices that they do not need to disclose. Eek! When you dig a little deeper, you'll find of these 5,000 chemicals, only approximately 1,650 have been tested, and 800+ are known carcinogens, skin irritants, hormone disrupters or asthma inducers. At Neuma, we believe in full transparency, which is why we never have or will use synthetic fragrances in our formulas.

Are your products gluten-free?

Neuma products are all gluten-free. Gluten is a protein primarily found in wheat, barley, rye and other grains. For people with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, avoiding gluten is crucial to prevent adverse health effects. While gluten is primarily a concern in the diet, some people may also experience skin reactions or other issues when using products containing gluten, so we avoid it while formulating our products.

Where are your products manufactured?

The vast majority of our products are manufactured in the United States using globally sourced ingredients and materials.

Where do I buy Neuma products?

We are aware of unauthorized parties selling Neuma, a practice known as Diversion. At Neuma, we have a firm anti-diversion stance and, with your help, are working to halt this unethical practice. Diversion occurs when products are sold by “unauthorized retailers” (such as grocery stores, drug stores, discount chain stores, etc.) both online and in-store. Any Neuma products sold outside of our authorized retailers are considered diverted and may be subject to any number of risks, including dilution, contamination, being over-aged or counterfeit. Known diverters include but are not limited to eBay, Walmart, Jet.com, and Overstock.com. How does Neuma Partner with Trees.org?

Trees for the Future is a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable agroforestry and reforestation practices around the world. The organization works with local farmers and communities to plant trees and improve the health of degraded lands and the livelihoods of people who live there. Neuma is a proud partner of Trees for the Future and, as part of its sustainability mission, has made a long-term commitment to plant one tree for every retail-size product sold. What is 1% for the Planet, and how is Neuma involved?

Our partnership with 1% for the Planet means that Neuma has committed to donating 1% of our annual sales to environmental nonprofits that are approved by 1% for the Planet. Our “One Bottle = One Tree” donation through Tree for the Future is one of the ways Neuma contributes to this commitment, as well as through other sustainability initiatives (i.e. purchasing wind power offsets, etc.). 1% for the Planet exists to help eliminate “greenwashing” and allows companies to demonstrate their commitment to supporting environmental causes and making a positive impact on the planet.

 

1% for the Planet is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the owner of Blue Ribbon Flies. They verify the donations made by businesses and provide a list of approved environmental nonprofits that the companies can donate to.

What is your return policy? What if I am not satisfied with my results?

Neuma gladly accepts returns within 30 days of the original purchase. For more information, visit our website page for Returns and follow the process outlined. Please note that shipping and duties are non-refundable. In addition, we inspect all returns. If it’s determined the product was purchased from an unauthorized reseller, Neuma reserves the right to decline the return and will ship the suspect product back to the customer.

 

Please note that items purchased from retailers other than Neumabeauty.com (including hair salons and/or e-commerce sites) must be returned to the original place of purchase in accordance with the return policies of the originating retailer.

Do I need a receipt to return my purchase?

All we need is your order number to process your return. You will find it on the order confirmation emailed to you when you made your purchase. We recommend you include a copy of the order confirmation email in your return shipment so we may quickly and easily contact you with any questions.

Do you do Exchanges?

Unfortunately, we do not accept exchanges.

Is there a time limit on accepting returns?

Neuma offers a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee on all its products. If you aren’t happy with the result of your purchase at Neumabeauty.com, please return the product using the process above.

Do you take checks, Venmo or types of payment other than debit cards, credit cards or PayPal?

At this time, Neumabeauty.com only accepts credit cards, debit cards and PayPal as payment for purchases made on our website.

How do you process a return if I paid with PayPal?

If your Neumabeauty.com purchase was made with PayPal, your refund will be applied to the credit card, debit card or bank account associated with your PayPal account. As with all returns to Neumabeauty.com, if a return is received Monday-Thursday during regular business hours, it will be processed within 24 hours of receipt. The refunded amount will be applied within the timeframes stated in your PayPal user agreement.

Do you accept returns for Neuma products I bought at a hair salon, spa, e-commerce site or other retailer?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns for purchases made at a professional hair salon, e-commerce website or other retailers. If there’s an issue with a purchase you made at one of these outlets, please contact the original place of purchase for returns.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

Overnight (excluding Saturday) shipping availability and order cutoff times are subject to change. Please see options at checkout.

Do you offer international shipping?

Unfortunately, at this time, we do not ship internationally or to Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico.

Neuma offers a Subscribe and Save program where you can receive your favorite products at a savings as part of our subscription service, so you never run out again! Your payment details will be stored securely, and you'll be charged for each of these deliveries unless you choose to pay in advance.

Is my subscription auto-renewed?

Some subscriptions may auto-renew at the end of their duration. If you don’t want to renew a subscription, you can cancel it at any time.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

If you want to cancel or change your subscription, you can do it at any time. Your order confirmation emails have links to subscription preferences. You can manage your subscription from there, or you can access it through your account profile on neumabeauty.com.

Do you sell my account information to anyone for marketing or other purposes?

Absolutely NOT! Neuma will never sell your information to any third party as a matter of principle. Our website privacy and e-commerce marketing practices meet the European Union’s GDPR requirements, so you can rest assured they are among the strongest available.

Do you offer price adjustments?

Neumabeauty.com will offer a one-time per customer price adjustment if a promotion or sale at Neumabeauty.com takes place within 14 days of your purchase. Promotional discounts cannot be applied retroactively to past purchases, but the customer may be offered a discount promo code toward a future purchase at Neumabeauty.com. Additional promotions or discounts cannot be applied to orders placed before current sales or discount is activated.
